Donna Summer, the legendary voice of the disco era, suffered through "severe depression" and admits she tried to commit suicide early in her career. "I was in New York, I had my daughter and my marriage broke up and I was alone. I just couldn't deal with that feeling anymore," Summer tells Mary Hart in an "Entertainment Tonight" interview slated to air tonight. "I was on my way out the window and got caught in the curtain," says Summer, who lived in Brookline and Newton and attended high school in South Boston. "The maid opened the door at exactly that time. Thank God that lady came because I would be gone today."
